At least for now, ‘Cuse loses TE

At the start of spring practice, Syracuse’s Beckett Wales was expected to begin a push for more extensive playing time at the tight end position and possibly even challenge for the starting job.

While that may ultimately be the case, that push likely won’t resume until summer camp. Maybe.

Orange head coach Doug Marrone that Wales is not with the program right now due to personal reasons. The only thing that’s certain about Wales’ future at the school is that he won’t participate in the remainder of the spring sessions, but would apparently be welcomed back when his issue or issues are resolved.

“He has taken a leave of absence from Syracuse University for personal reasons. We look forward to him coming back at the appropriate time,” Marrone said.

As a true freshman in 2010, Wales played in 10 games and had four receptions for 31 yards.
