If Brandon Moore is going to carry the on-field progress he made for Alabama in 2010 into 2011, he’ll have a little bit of an off-field hiccup to overcome in order to do so.
Head coach Nick Saban announced Saturday evening that the defensive end has been indefinitely suspended from the football program. The reason, of course, is the ominous “violations of unspecified team rules”.
Based on Saban’s words, it doesn’t appear that Moore will be returning at any point in the near future.
“That’s indefinite,” the coach said. “We don’t know what’s happening there.”
Last season, Moore played in four games. The redshirt sophomore was expected to challenge for significant playing time for the Tide in 2011.
Moore, incidentally, becomes the second Tide player indefinitely suspended this spring; defensive back Robby Green was suspended this past Monday.
These young men, as well as all the young men on the Alabama team, know Coach Saban’s rules. The rules are drummed in, posted, and reinforced. Violations are dealt with accordingly. The young men are likely receiving counsel, which is a part of this process at Alabama and other schools of which we are familiar. We wish the young men well, but this should serve a notice to them and to all others on the team, Coach Saban means business. No coverup with him. Good job Coach.
Sounds like Nick has begun his annual spring campaign and house cleaning to free up some scholarships because he is jammed with signing numbers compared to what he has available to dole out. Business as usual in the SEC.
Had to be more than a memorabilia sale…
Kudos to Coach Saban for doing the deal and maintaining discipline.
As SoPat said, let’s hope the other kids take note.
I want them at full strength come fall of 2012 in Dallas. I’ll be there… with WingT
Go BLUE!
@Polegojim
LOL, I just might be at that game as well. Don’t worry, Nick will have a healthy team when they run out on the field at Jerry’s World. They will be ready to chase Denard Robison all over the field. I bet it will be a very very good game – should be a classic
Sure would like to know what they did. Saban is a tough dictator. Would not want that rabid Chihuahua chasing after me arf-arf-arfing like he does on the sidelines.
I was hoping to go to that game, too. But I want proof there will be a seat ready for me and they won’t take me to the Jerrah dungeon to watch the game on TV!
You break the rules you suffer the consequences. They’ll never learn and be a responsible person if they are allowed to slide by. Rules don’t mean anything if they aren’t made to follow them.
Napoleon sure is trying to run a tight ship. While I disagree with his own unethical conduct, I really appreciate Saban’s player discipline in contrast to Urban Meyer’s.
these dang ghetto boys aint they eva gonna learn
@burntorangehorn …
What unethical conduct? Oh puh-leeze tell me you’re not referring to that Dolphin nonsense that’s been soooooo overblown and inaccurately reported? Those have got to be the most whiny fans in all of footballdom.
