Suspended twice in the last three months, Syracuse linebacker Brice Hawkes (pictured, left) won’t be afforded the opportunity to hit the banishment trifecta.
Orange head coach Doug Marrone confirmed Friday that Hawkes is no longer a member of the football program. Marrone did not say why the sophomore was no longer with the team, but did say that the decision was not made by the player.
Hawkes and starting defensive tackle Andrew Lewis were suspended for the New Era Pinstripes Bowl last December for a violation of unspecified team rules. That was Hawkes’ first suspension; his second had just been lifted earlier this week.
As a freshman in 2010, Hawkes played in 11 games, mainly on special teams.
I thought it was the New Era Pinstripe Bowl. New Ear? Ha, Ha! Maybe so after the refs screwed K State.
