Gone: Southern AD gets the boot after ‘lady of the night’ incident

As one might reasonably expect, Southern University has canned their athletic director Greg LaFleur after he was arrested over the weekend for soliciting a prostitute in Houston.

Southern chancellor Kofi Lomotey said removing LaFleur was the best decision for “the stability of the program”, and that he would recommend women’s basketball coach Sandy Pugh take over as interim AD.

“Given the circumstances, I think it would be difficult for the university to move forward with Mr. LaFleur as the head of the athletic program,” Lomotey said. “I appreciate his effort and the hard work he put in during some difficult situations. I speak for the rest of my staff in wishing him well.”

LeFleur’s termination shouldn’t be all that surprising; former Georgia AD Damon Evans was fired last fall after being charged with a DUI and an incurable fixation for lady panties.
