Ducks backup QB charged with three misdemeanors

Last year’s offseason for Oregon was marked by multiple off-field incidents involving several members of the football program. This offseason has been a relatively quiet one -- the whole Willie Lyle thing notwithstanding -- for the Ducks.

As you can tell by the headline, that calm was broken a little bit over the weekend.

According to The Oregonian, backup quarterback Dustin Haines was arrested on multiple misdemeanor charges over the weekend, including excessive noise, interfering with a police officer and resisting arrest. The arrest came as a result of police responding to complaints about a loud on-campus party.

As a result of the arrest, Haines has been suspended indefinitely by head coach Chip Kelly.

The sophomore played in four games last season and, while he didn’t attempt a pass, he did have two carries for one yard and one reception for 18 yards. Haines is probably best known for his main job with the Ducks, as described in his bio on the school’s official website: “charged with holding Oregon’s unique play cards on the sideline for most of the year.”
