Yet another Arizona Wildcat suffers an ACL tear

Already this spring, Arizona has watched three players -- including two starters -- go down with a serious knee injury in less than two months.

Monday, word’s surfaced that the number is now, unfortunately, at an even four.

According to the Tucson Citizen, defensive tackle Willie Mobley suffered a torn ACL recently and will undergo surgery this week to repair the damage. The junior incurred the injury playing basketball.

While there’s no definitive word on how long he will be out, it’s a near-certainty, given the timing of the injury so close to the start of the 2011 season, that he will miss most if not all of the year.

Mobley had originally began his collegiate career at Ohio State before ultimately transferring to Arizona. He played in 10 games last season.

In addition to Mobley, starting linebacker Jake Fischer and starting safety Adam Hall, as well as backup running back Greg Nwoko, have gone down with ACL tears since the end of March.
