Trio of projected starters among five who won’t play for Troy in 2011

Yep, it’s taking on the look and feel of “one of those days”.

According to the Dothan Eagle, Troy wide receivers Jamel Johnson and Chip Reeves (pictured), cornerback KeJuan Phillips and linebacker Mark Wilson have been declared academically ineligible and will not play in 2011. Additionally, defensive end R.J. Roberts has been dismissed from the football program for the ever-titillating violation of unspecified team rules.

Johnson, Reeves and Phillips were projected as starters coming out of spring practice and heading into summer camp.

“You can lead a horse to the water, but you can’t force them to drink it,” Trojans head coach Larry Blakeney was quoted as saying, we’re assuming in regards to the players and not some equestrian venture he’s part of.

With 30 and 22 receptions, respectively, Reeves and Johnson were the Trojans’ leading returning receivers. Phillips played in all 13 games last season, starting the final six.
