Pitt backup QB arrested, suspended

Just as the “Days Without an Arrest” ticker was inching tantalizingly close to the double-digit plateau, it’s back to double zeros for the venerable meter.

According to the Allentown Morning Call, Pittsburgh quarterback Anthony Gonzalez was arrested very early last Friday morning and charged with (gasp!) marijuana possession. Gonzalez and two other 19-year-old males who were also hit with various charges were arrested by police in Bethlehem, Pa., although it’s unclear what led to the arrest.

As a result, Gonzalez has been indefinitely suspended by first-year head coach Todd Graham.

Gonzalez was the No. 13 dual-threat QB in the country according to Rivals.com and was a three-star member of the Panthers’ 2010 recruiting class. He used his redshirt year as a true freshman last season.
