Warren Sapp’s unmentionables wadded up over Golden ‘snub’

Warren Sapp

Despite the fact that he’s yet to coach a game at Miami — and the fact that his hiring back in December wasn’t exactly warmly received by some/many — Al Golden has slowly begun ingratiating himself with members of Hurricane Nation, particularly the former greats who have come through the school.

Golden has made it a point to embrace the history and the tradition of the football program he took over following the firing of Randy Shannon, with several players applauding the tack he’s taken to reach out to them.  One of those former players, however, isn’t Warren Sapp.

The ex-Hurricanes defensive lineman was highly critical of Golden’s hiring when it was first announced late last year, and that opinion hasn’t changed.  Sapp took the radio airwaves last week, and whined talked about what he perceived to be a snub by Golden during Miami’s most recent Pro Day.

“I stood in that locker room two hours on Pro Day and the head coach didn’t come down and say hello or nothing,” Sapp said by way of the Miami Herald. “Let’s stop talking about this Al Golden reaching out and telling everyone is welcome. It’s bull.”

Why the utter nerve and gall of that Golden character.  How dare he not drop to his knees and kiss the feet of Warren the Great.  Who the hell does he think he is?

If nothing more, this latest hissy fit has left me rooting even harder for Golden to turn that program around.

Al Groden is not the guy who is going to turn around the U.

    It was a bad hire

    @imsmartandyouarenot

Your right hes not! Al Golden will turn the U around

Just say it as it is Sapp…….if Al Golden was black, you would have said he was busy, you respect he was busy trying to bring the program back to the forefront, and not be pissed Luther Campbell wasn’t invited….Everyone with an IQ of about 5 knows what Sapp is about, the swagger is long gone, sorry he didn’t kiss your ass as you expected……

how stupid, psychic, and insecure does someone have to be to come up with a name like “imsmartandyouarenot”? maybe we can ask “imtalkingsolistenandlearn”.

So the guy you criticized and said wasn’t a good hire didn’t kiss your butt, meanwhile he’s doing that to all the other former players who didn’t talk smack about him?

    Wow, what a shock.

Sapp, you can’t spit in a mans face, then get pissed when he doesn’t give too craps about you later.

Idiot. Hated him as a Hurricane, Hated him as a Buccaneer, could care less about him as a Raider, and actually like him as an analyst. But this is one take he should back off from.

If Warren Sapp keeps it up he’s going to end up getting knocked out by Mark D’Onofrio because that man will hold a grudge like no one I know and has a short fuse.

Sapp was a tremendous football player, but he’s always been an insufferable jerk and frankly, I wouldn’t invite him to wash my car.

Honestly, if he disappeared from the planet I’m not even sure his own mother would care.

Yep. I get it. It would be asking too much of Hizzoner, Mr. Sapp, to walk across the room and introduce Himself to the new coach.

Great post. “Insufferable jerk” is the most accurate description of Sapp there could be.

And while 90% of the people that read this are probably saying “who the hell is Mark D’Onofrio”, I know who he is and you’re spot on.

@bamasucks about as smart as someone who comes up with a username like bamasucks. Prob someone with a very low iq and alot of insecurity.

For those wondering Mark D’Onofrio is the DC at Miami…

Regardless of how Sapp is acting, he is an alumni and ex-player at this school. The Head coach I’m sure knows who he is and should have at least acted like the bigger man and acknowledged the cry baby. Then the others in the room will see that he is trying. That’s all he can do.

This is all about raising stock values… If Sapp was bothered wouldn’t he of visited the U before 15 yrs had passed by… The coach should have spoke with him just to put this to bed.

Sapp, go eat another Twinkie you fatf**k!!!!!

  16. icewalker946 says: May 30, 2011 11:26 AM

Sapp, the cheap shot artist…..expect anything else?

Chad Clifton and D’Andre Maxwell (from the Miami-San Diego St. Brawl in 1992…..YouTube it) are not surprised.

Take Golden’s perspective, when you are the host of a big event, you are too busy to even notice who is there unless you cross path. Usually people who wants to get noticed by the host would go up to him to shake hands. But Warren is just Warren. Also, why did he wait 15 years to get back to a school that he ‘LOVES’?

OK I’ll play your silly game – Who the hell is Mark D’Onofrio?

    Serious (?) question

  19. lexxust says: May 30, 2011 6:19 PM

sapp is a all time great, but its not the head coaches job to locate and greet every star that stops by. he is only one man. it would have been better if sapp stopped by and greeted the new coach.

Florida 41 Ohio State 10 Could have been much worse.

Urban likes it too much in the Sunshine State.

Michigan teams don’t want any of the SEC. Big? just not athletic enough.

Hilarious… you rip the guy publicly in every venue that will listen to you flap your yap, without ever having the stones to call him or talk to him, then expect him to approach YOU and kiss your enormous patootie the first time you happen to be in the same place? What a tool… an all-time great, probably even an underrated great player, but what a tool.

Warren needs shut his pie hole. His boy Randy couldn’t cut it. I’m certain fatboy couldn’t get the job done either. How about letting Golden coach a season before poppin off.
