Texas addresses Rachel McCoy interview

Well, they kinda did.

If you recall, the wife of former Texas quarterback Colt McCoy made an impromptu appearance on Colin Cowherd‘s ESPN radio show Tuesday, and, no doubt inadvertently, created a mini-stir by intimating that some of her husband’s teammates at the time may not have been able to resist the urge of impermissible benefits offered up by either boosters or agents.

While not directly mentioning Rachel McCoy‘s interview or any of the specific issues she brought up, athletic director DeLoss Dodds did release a statement through the university that speaks on the issue of compliance.

“We take compliance very seriously at Texas,” Dodd said. “We have procedures in place that enable our coaches, student-athletes and administrators to make the right choices. We are performing our due diligence as always to make certain there are no outstanding compliance issues.”

It remains to be seen whether any of this will lead to anything NCAA-wise, but, reading the early tea leaves, it’s looking highly unlikely. Then again, when it comes to The Association, you just never really know which rock they’ll eventually look under.
