USC’s leading rusher in 2010, Marc Tyler, issued a statement this past weekend confirming that he is currently under scrutiny by the school’s Office of Student Judicial Affairs for a pair of alleged incidents involving female students.
Following a players-only workout Tuesday, Tyler, who is currently under the care of a university-employed therapist, gave an update on his situation to Pedro Moura of ESPNLosAngeles.com. Basically, he’s still awaiting word from the school’s sanctioning arm as to any type of discipline he may or may not face, with said sanctions running the gamut from really, really bad to a relative slap on the wrist.
“The worst-case scenario is them kicking me out of school,” Tyler told the website. “The best is nothing happening, just me having to do some classes in the fall, probably.”
Tyler said he expects a decision on what if any punishment he’ll be facing in the next 2-3 weeks.
While Tyler would not discuss the specifics of the alleged incidents, the Los Angeles Times reported detailed some of what was contained in incident reports posted on the school’s website and allegedly involved the senior back.
Tyler has reportedly admitted to the spitting incident but denied the sexual assault, which involved inappropriately touching a female student at a bar.
At least for now, Tyler said head coach Lane Kiffin and the football program has his back given the steps he’s taken since the incidents.
“They’ve all just been really supportive, and I feel like I’ve come closer to the coaches since this all happened,” Tyler said. “Because now I have to go up there all the time and they’ve all been supportive of me.
“I think me and Lane’s relationship has become a lot closer.”
Last season, Tyler led the Trojans with 913 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.
