USC’s Patrick Hall tears another ACL, will miss ’11 season

Patrick Hall

For the second time in less than two years, highly-touted 2009 recruit Patrick Hall of USC has been forced to deal with a significant injury to one of his knees, SCPlaybook.com is reporting.

According to the Scout.com website, Hall tore the ACL in his left knee after intercepting a pass during a players-only workout a week ago Thursday.  The cornerback will undergo surgery to repair the damage once the swelling has subsided, at which point rehab on the knee is expected to take in the neighborhood of nine months.

“I was able to walk off the last ACL tear I had and I knew it was the same thing (this time),” Hall said. “I just didn’t want to show everybody.”

Hall had previously torn the ACL in his right knee during summer camp in 2009 and missed all of that season, taking a redshirt for the following year as rehab on the knee continued.  Needless to say, Hall will miss the entire 2011 season as well.

As noted by the Scout site, and because he will have missed two complete seasons because of injury, Hall will petition for a sixth season of eligibility.  If granted, Hall would have three years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2012.

As a five-star member of Pete Carroll‘s final Trojans’ recruiting class in 2009, the Ventura, Calif., product was the No. 2 athlete — and No. 19 player overall — in the country according to Rivals.com.

Well, if he can avoid any more injuries, he can be there when the sanctions finally go away. Certainly would have been a welcome addition this year.

Hate to see players injured, but I cannot deny a morbid glee watching USC tumble down the slimey slope into the abyss of irrelevance.

I just hope they make room for Auburn once they finally hit the bottom!

brownsclown, pretty disgusting of you to leave a comment regarding “glee” on a story about a kid blowing out a knee for the second time. (glee is a pretty flimsy word to use too but thats a whole other issue.) I understand your bitterness toward USC. People who aren’t winners tend to hate winners. My advice to you, don’t be bitter and get better. USC will be a prominent football program again, as they have been for decades. May serve you best to just accept it.

You obviously don’t do well with inferences. “Glee” is attributed to USC’s tumble; not the injury.

As a lifelong Tide fan, the sinusoidal performance of USC is not threat to me whatsoever.

I agree that USC will become prominent once again. As soon as the spotlight on them dims and they can get away with rules violations again. Then they will spiral down the tube again once they are caught. Again.

    Rinse. Repeat.

Oh, I’m sorry. You are a Tide fan. That is THE cleanest program in the country. They’ve never been in violation or any probation of any kind. Roll another fatty Tide and enjoy that spin cycle.

Hmmm. Don’t remember a vacated championship!

There was no title for Alabama to vacate at the time of their violations.

If they did a postumous NCAA rules investigation on the “Bear,” they would ALL be vacated. Making ME the top Alabama corch of all times.
