Looking at the headline, looking at the clock, looking back up at the headline… yep, it’s looking like one of those days.
Exiting spring practice, Emory Miller and Brett Smith were listed on Dave Christensen‘s post-spring depth chart as Wyoming’s co-starters at quarterback.
Entering summer workouts ahead of the start of camp, the expected combatants for the job have been unexpectedly cut in half.
In a Friday press release, it was announced that the redshirt freshman Miller will not be returning to the Wyoming football program this year. Other than “personal”, no reason or reasons were given for his departure.
“Emory (Miller) made the decision that he would not return next year,” said Christensen in a statement. “We thank him for his hard work this past year, and wish him the best in his future.”
With Miller’s departure, Christensen and the Cowboys will be as young as you can possibly get at the position as both Smith and Adam Pittser are true freshman. Unlike Smith, Pittser was not an early enrollee and will instead join the battle for the starting job at the start of summer camp.
