no i get what what your saying. It makes sense, its sad the schools get hammered for these things instead of coaches, agents, boosters, etc.... I think patterson has done an excellent job at TCU. I wish they would get invited to the big12. that would be fun to watch. anyways, I think the saddest part of all of this are the guys who go to play college football, work hard in the classroom and on the field. earn their spot.... then they suffer when the school looses out on a bowl game. pete carroll finds out trouble is coming, so he bails on the school and kids he recruited for bigger money(and no consequences) its sad

I beg to differ. Maybe a lot of the programs at the top are dirty ... I don't know. As a TCU alum I believe we could have competed with anyone last year... We just had our best recruiting class ever... It had zero five stars and only a handful of four stars... I honestly do not believe we are doing anything under the table... (God I hope not)... In any case as others have said... the biggest losers in these scandals are always the fans. They need a way to penalize the individual players and coaches involved... perhaps retroactive fines based on a percentage (say 25%) of the coaches income for every yr the underhanded activity was taking place. That might incentivise running a clean program. Idk what the answer is honestly.

The only programs you'll find that arent dirty are the ones that don't compete at a high level. Northwestern is a prefect example. Great school, Coach, Academic standards, and clean players...... wont ever win a National title. It's hard to root against those schools no matter who you like.

every program has issues. when you deal with over 100 aggressive kids who were the best in HS, you are going to have troubles at some point. its how the program deals with it.
"Fans of dirty programs love to say that every program is dirty". find a prefect school with no arrests, drug problems, recruiting violations etc. it happens everywhere. There's always one player that gives a team a black eye. In the SEC they have multiple eyes, so its no big deal

College football is a business. It generates More money than it ever has. It's more popular than ever. it's market is much broader then the NFL. The big problem plain and simple is that College Football really became popular fast 15 years ago, and the NCAA did not know how to handle it. The NCAA is a business. College is a business. How much money do universities make off of kids that dont graduate. How are these institutions any different from a predatory lender??? They have a great thing going right now, but the media and its obsession with scandals is working on destroying football. Lets go back the way it was over a decade ago. let the media cover the games. let the local newspapers report players screwing up.

It was widely known that Seastrunk was a pay for play guy the year he came out. I know he was a heavy USC lean under Carroll and when Kiffin came in USC immediately pulled his offer. That's probably a pretty good tell right there, you dont't pull offeres from 5 star running backs. This is probably the reason a lot of schools backed off of him that and his nickname Lache MEstrunk.

Oregon is as dirty as they come it was fitting to see Auburn vs U of Zero in the MNC. I am sure the more the investigate Oregon the more they are going to find.

There appears to be a systemic issue throughout major college sports. Just not sure how to correct it with the money being so large.
If you pay players, how much is enough? If you let them sell their stuff, some jackass will way over pay.
It's sad, really. This is why the university presidents have been fighting not to have a playoff. The money would be so big, the pressure to skirt the rules would be even greater.

I've been saying that this Oregon thing is bigger than OSU for months now. We (Texas) didn't even have a CHANCE with Lache Seastrunk (who is from right down the street from Austin in Temple, Texas) after Major Applewhite told Lache on the phone that Willie Lyles was "bad news" and to stay away from him. Lache didn't even visit UT. Willie was pissed at that and Lache was pissed at us because Willie had convinced him he was his friend.

Sadly, Lache seems to be pretty naive and vulnerable. He totally got taken advantage of. Even if he knew about it and got some cash in return, he still got exploited. I mean, Temple is just this little town.

Who I feel sorry for the most is Oregon fans. They don't deserve this at all.

I hope it's all a mix-up, but there are a lot of questions to be answered.

This is pretty shocking. Not that I'm shocked it happened, but they were too incompetent to even *pretend* like they were "buying" an actual product. They couldn't even take the effort of copying and pasting the ESPN 150, Rival, Scout recruit lists for the right year?

And I believe that this is on a completely different level than USC/OSU. While coach(es) at those schools can be rightfully accused of turning a blind eye and even lying to cover the mistakes of the players, it never got to the point that the school itself was using its own funds to buy recruits.

But the most frustrating thing about this is I wouldn't be shocked if NCAA busts outs its "OH THIS IS A LOOPHOLE THAT'LL WE'LL ADDRESS IN THE FUTURE. NOTHING TO SEE HERE, LETS MOVE ON" similar to what it did with Cam Newton's father admitting to trying to sell his kid's services.
