Report: autopsy revealed multiple drugs in body of Aaron Douglas

A month and a half after his much-too-soon passing, the cause of Aaron Douglas’ death has reportedly been revealed.

And, sadly, the “preliminary guess” as to the cause has turned out to be correct.

WVLT-TV in Knoxville is reporting that they have obtained the autopsy report and the findings show that the offensive lineman died from having multiple drugs in his system. The station’s report only mentions two of the drugs found in Douglas’ body: methadone and diazepam (Valium). One use of the former is to manage severe chronic pain, while the latter helps relieve anxiety.

Douglas was found dead the morning of May 12 on the second-floor balcony of a Fernandina Beach, Fla., residence.

Douglas was a freshman All-American at Tennessee in 2009, but decided to leave the program in March of 2010. After spending a year at the JUCO level, Douglas signed with Alabama and was competing for a starting spot this past spring.
