The following quick hit means one (or both) of two things:
1) It’s a slow news day if we’re talking about North Texas.
2) One of the worst teams last year just got worse this year.
Regardless, it looks like North Texas will be without its leading receiver from a year ago when they step on the field against Florida International for their first game this season.
By way of MeanGreenSports.com, UNT coach Dan McCarney has announced that junior wide receiver Darius Carey has been dismissed from the team for unspecified reasons. The coach did, however, offer the following — albeit brief — statement:
“Darius did not live up to the standards and expectations that we have set for this football program,” McCarney said. “We wish him well in all of his future endeavors.”
Carey’s production over the past two seasons will be hard to replace; he had 38 receptions for 524 yards and five touchdowns last season. As a freshman, Carey reeled in 57 catches for 509 yards and another four scores.
Does that mean more touches for stud RB L.Dunbar?
Who? is this North dallas 40 or something….
