The disheartening holiday weekend news continues Monday evening, with a disturbing report coming out of Indiana regarding a member of the Purdue football program.
According to the West Lafayette Journal and Courier, running back Sean Matti was reported missing to the local sheriff’s department late Sunday night. Matti was last seen roughly six hours earlier swimming in Lake Freeman.
The initial close-shore search by the Department of Natural Resources turned up nothing, and was called off due to darkness. The Journal and Courier writes that “a side-scan sonar boat searched the water near the residence this morning but nothing was found.”
A door-to-door search near the area where Matti was last seen is also reportedly being conducted. The land and water search continues this evening according to the reports.
Matti is a fifth-year senior walk-on who’s been part of the Boilermakers since 2007.
