Mother Nature calls her Baylor season-ticket $ shot

Last week we mentioned a promotion by the Baylor athletic department whereby the price of a season-ticket package, for a limited time, would be based on the high temperature in Waco on the Fourth of July.

As the celebration of our great nation’s birth has come and gone, we can now report the amount of cash you’ll need to shell out over the next few days in order to see the Bears in action at home.

According to local reports, the high temperature in Waco Monday was 101 degrees, which means fans of the program will be able to purchase a non-premium season-ticket package for the low, low price of, well, $101. You need to kind of hurry, however; the special price will run from July 5 through July 10.

“There is tremendous anticipation for the Bears’ 2011 season, and we are grateful for those fans who already have purchased season tickets,” said Baylor Executive Associate Athletics Director/External Affairs Nick Joos in a statement. “The price-point for this special July 4th promotion affords fans a discount of more than 30 percent off our Super Fan ticket price, and we are hopeful that will be appealing to many, especially considering the attractiveness of our 2011 home schedule.""

And, again, the seven-game package for the home slate is not exactly littered with “Little Sisters of the Poor” opponents as Baylor will square off against TCU (season opener), Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas (regular-season finale) among others. On top of that, the Bears are coming off a season that saw them play in their first bowl game in nearly two decades and possess one of the most dynamic and exciting players in the country, quarterback Robert Griffin III.

So, for those Bears fans who’ve yet to pull the trigger on a purchase, there’s only one question now given the promotion-based rate: what the hell are y’all waiting for?
