Ex-Cincinnati QB Chazz Anderson heading to Buffalo

Less than a month ahead of the start of summer camp, Buffalo has added another arm to its 2011 quarterback arsenal.

Head coach Jeff Quinn announced in a press release Tuesday afternoon that ex-Cincinnati QB Chazz Anderson has decided to transfer to his football program. As Anderson already has his degree from Cincinnati and will enter a post-graduate program not offered at his previous school, he will be eligible to play in 2011.

“We are very excited that Chazz has chosen to finish his college football career here at Buffalo,” said Quinn. “I have known Chazz since his recruitment at Cincinnati and he is a tremendous young man, extremely mature, a dual-threat quarterback who makes our program better simply because of the kind of person he is. He will be given the opportunity to compete for the quarterback position, but like every member of our football team, he will have to go out and earn it. In our system, if you prepare like a starter and perform like a starter, then you become the starter. We have the same expectation for every one of our quarterbacks.”

Quinn was the Bearcats’ offensive coordinator from 2007-2009, so obviously the relationship he has with Anderson played a significant role in the player’s decision.

Anderson decided in early May to leave UC, although it was thought at the time that he would wind up at a Div. II school.

During his four years at the school, which included a redshirt during his true freshman season, Anderson competed 74 of 126 passes for 759 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions. Anderson was a three-star prospect coming out of Pickerington Central (Oh.) High School in 2007.
