Wisconsin Board of Regents approve $1 million salary for Barry Alvarez

Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez will be getting a cool new $1 million salary.

According to Don Walker of Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Alvarez’s income will be evenly divided between a $500,000 salary from the athletic department and $500,000 in outside income, although the contract hasn’t been finalized just yet.

UW’s Chancellor, the appropriately-named Biddy Martin, negotiated the contract, which was sent to the school’s Board of Regents and approved today.

Barry brought our Badgers to prominence and respectability, he deserves every cent.

If by prominence, you mean annual trips to the Alamo bowl or getting beat by UTEP?! Then I guess you’re right.

Way to set your sights so low. Badger fans are happy with any old bowl. You should be aiming for National titles, not happy with one of the 50 bowl games.

From 84 to 1990 the Badgers won 7 big ten games… That’s 1 game a year. Barry helped us win 3 rose bowls in the 90’s, and while we might not be on par with Florida, Oklahoma, etc., we are contenders.

I don’t know what school you pretend to be a fan of, so I can’t trash on you. Maybe when you get out of jr. high you’ll bandwagon the suckeyes and you’ll have to live with the annual thrashing at the hands of the Badgers.

No, you are not contenders. Your teams nc schedule will forever prevent you from contention for the national title. Playing UNLV every year and teams like Monmuth doesn’t help.

I don’t see what team I “pretend” to be a fan of has anything to do with WIsconsin. To satisfy your curiosity, I’m an Oklahoma fan. I live in Wisconsin.

I’ve been a fan of the Sooners since the 70’s.
I’m in junior high because I don’t agree with your rosy picture of the Badgers program?

C’mon man. You then go on to call Ohio States team the suckyes, and I need to grow up?

Let me put it to you this way. I’m sure you’re a Packer fan too. Would you be happy with them just making the playoffs every year, with no realistic shot at the Super Bowl? Or, would you rather have them very close to, or winning the bowl every year?

You are sastisfied with the complacency that Alvarez created. Rose Bowls? BFD!

Until fans like you get fed up, there is no incentive for the Badgers to be any better than a top 25 team.

Good thing they raised tuition so they could cover this off the back of kids and parents who already struggle with the crazy cost of attending college. Great priorities.

Should of gotten a pay cut letting little ole TCU beat em in the Rose Bowl and then try to make it up trying to trick them into a rematch in Madison.

whats the point of a riase? TCU is still gonna whip them, and the badgers bball team will never win a final four, and nobody cares about college hockey.

Wisconsin won’t ever win a title. They run too clean of a program.
