Backup QB Beaver leaving Tulsa

After exiting spring practice as the No. 2 quarterback depth chart, Shavodrick Beaver is no longer a member of Tulsa’s football team, the school announced Wednesday.

In their press release, it was revealed that Beaver would’ve been forced to sit out the 2011 season as an academic redshirt. Instead, the junior has decided to transfer to the JUCO level to continue his collegiate career.

“We wish Shavodrick the very best in his future endeavors,” head coach Bill Blankenship said in a statement. “He is a fine young man and we hope that he has a good career at Midwestern State while pursuing his degree.”

Beaver played in 15 games during his two seasons with the Golden Hurricane, but attempted just nine passes. The four-star recruit out of Wichita Falls, Tex., was the No. 8 dual-threat quarterback in the country in 2009 according to Rivals.com.
