When five-star Auburn signee Kris Frost announced via Twitter late last week that he would be undergoing shoulder surgery Tuesday, it was widely reported that Frost would likely miss the entire 2011 season and probably take a redshirt for his true freshman season.
While that may ultimately be the case, there’s also a chance it won’t.
The Birmingham News confirmed Wednesday that Frost indeed underwent surgery; however, the News also writes that “word is [Frost] could bounce back and play this season.”
There’s no word on where that, um, word came from, and Auburn has yet to even confirm the injury let alone give an update on his status for the upcoming season.
It’s believed Frost suffered a dislocated right shoulder during a summer workout somewhere around July 20.
As a five-star member of the Tigers’ 2011 recruiting class, the Matthews, NC, product was the No. 2 outside LB in the country according to Rivals.com and was the top player overall in his home state according to the recruiting website.
Frost has the skill-set & size to play right away but to come off an injury/surgery/practice/play all in a few months this season is a stretch. Let the shoulder heel properly and try again in spring. Med-red shirt.
No no, no, let him play!! He should be ready to play in tim for the Battle of ‘Bama!
