You guys are killing me.

I’m not defending Butch’s lack of production – I personally would have fired him back in December… but if you think for one second that they fired him over that – you’re crazy.

You’re telling me that the non-performance didn’t bother them ALL Winter and ALL Spring, and HALF the SUMMER? And they JUST NOW had an epiphany, just before the season starts…. and figured out he should be replaced when the ENTIRE FREAKING College Football Universe took care of this type of business 6-7 months ago?

If that’s really true, they’re more inept and incompetent than I feared. UNC fans would then have even MORE to worry about.

Keep drinking that kool-aid, I’m sure Thorp is loving it.

I believe Butch Davis wasn’t forthright with UNC. I’m sure Butch didn’t tell them the real story until the reports came out. What Butch Davis did to The Cleveland Browns tells me all I need to know. He a shyster. He’s the Bill Laimbeer (what.. who.. me) of coaches. Just road Jimmy Johnson’s coat tails. He will never be a head coach in the NFL again, that is for sure.
No tears for this guy.

Carolina has wanted its football program to mirror the basketball program since they hired Mack Brown. I still hope they do. But enough of these coaches with big names and heavy baggage.

Have to agree with jpiro. Not knowing what was going on is not an excuse. His job was not limited to X’s and O’s; his job included overseeing the entire program.

Leach will get another shot soon. I dont think at UNC. Probably at Purdue next year when Danny Hopeless gets canned.

It’s time to wipe the tears away and sign Mike Leach now. The fact that he is at odd’s with ESPN and the NCAA should be proof enough that he runs a clean program. I would love to see UNC and The U go to battle every year with Golden and Leach at their respective helms.

You weren’t fired because you “did nothing wrong,” Butch. You were fired because you did nothing.

Sticking your head in the sand while your players AND your coaches were committing major violations all around you doesn’t absolve you of culpability.

And when you ask the public to assume that you actually didn’t know what John Blake was doing (a guy you’ve known since you coached him in HIGH SCHOOL), you’re essentially saying we’re as blind and stupid as you claim to have been.

I find that insulting, even if you don’t.

Too bad Thorp, Badour, and UNC general didn’t match your qualities.
