Three Syracuse players suffer injuries, including a broken jaw

It really hasn’t been a great couple of weeks for Syracuse, which is already having to enter fall camp on the receiving end of suspensions, drug busts, theft and stabbings.

Now, they’ll have to proceed minus three more players for the immediate future.

Thanks to an official release from the university, three Syracuse players are out with injuries -- two of which are on an indefinite basis. Offensive guard Nick Lepak and linebacker Zack McCarrell have suffered a concussion and a hamstring injury, respectively, and will be out for until further notice.

Safety Phillip Thomas, on the other hand, suffered a broken jaw during practice on August 7 and had surgery yesterday. Amazingly, he is expected to return to non-contact drills in the next few days.

Thomas has played in 24 games for the Orange, including 16 starts. Lepak has played in 26 games for Syracuse and McCarrell is a former walk-on.
