At this rate, Arizona State may not even have a team to field as they try to win the first Pac-12 South title.
The Sun Devils have already lost starting cornerback Omar Bolden and starting wide receiver T.J. Simpson to what will likely be season-ending knee injuries. Linebacker Oliver Aaron suffered a high-ankle sprain and will miss several weeks, including a possible game or two at the beginning of the season.
The status of running back Deantre Lewis is also still uncertain after coach Dennis Erickson said Lewis is taking longer to recover from a shot in the buttocks suffered in February.
Now, Arizona State’s receiving core will take another hit as sophomore J.J. Holliday has broken his collarbone and will be out at least a month. Last season, Holliday saw time for the Sun Devils on special teams and was projected as a second-team receiver this season.
