Four-star Gator signee out up to two months

Any hopes A.C. Leonard held out for seeing the playing field in his true freshman season at Florida has taken a substantial and significant injury hit.

Speaking to the media Wednesday morning, head coach Will Muschamp revealed that the tight end suffered a torn meniscus in one of his knees and has already undergone surgery to repair the damage. The current time frame for a return is 6-8 weeks, meaning a redshirt season could be in the offing for Leonard.

Muschamp added that the cartilage issue was a non-contact injury.

Leonard was a four-star member of UF’s 2011 recruiting class and was rated as the No. 5 TE in the country according to Rivals.com. While Leonard, an early enrollee who participated in spring practice, was the No. 3 TE entering summer camp, there were some who thought he had the ability to contribute immediately his first year.
