Tight end may be transferring from ill-fitting Pitt

Since Todd Graham took over as head coach at Pittsburgh, the roster has been a veritable revolving door, with numerous transfers entering and just as many exiting.

Apparently, the latter is once again in play for Graham’s first-year squad.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that tight end Brock DeCicco is contemplating a transfer from the school, with coaches giving the redshirt sophomore permission to leave practice as he contemplates his future. The reason for the transfer appears to be DeCicco doesn’t feel he would be a fit in Graham’s version of the spread offense.

Coaches would like for him to return to campus on Saturday with a decision on which direction he’s headed.

“Brock DeCicco has been excused from practice for personal reasons,” a school official said when asked about the report. “We will respectfully decline to comment on his situation until there has been a change in his status.”

While DeCicco had just two receptions in 2010, both went for touchdowns. DeCicco was a three-star member of the Panthers’ 2009 recruiting class, and the No. 14 TE in the country according to Rivals.com.
