In the mix to land a job if Georgia Tech’s secondary, Fred Holton will instead spend most of the 2011 season rehabbing a fairly significant leg injury, the school announced Monday.
The sophomore safety suffered a torn Achilles tendon in Saturday morning’s practice and is expected to miss the entire 2011 season. The release made no mention of when surgery will be performed to repair the damage.
“It’s disappointing for Fred because he worked so hard and he was playing so well and he had a great camp,” head coach Paul Johnson said.
As a true freshman in 2010, Holton played in all 13 games for the Yellow Jackets and totaled 11 tackles.
The Thomasville, Ga., native was a three-star member of Tech’s 2010 recruiting class.
