Huge blow: starting Beavers cornerback out indefintiely with shoulder injury

There have been a few teams this preseason who just haven’t been able to catch a break when it comes to avoiding the injury bug, including Oregon State.

Mike Riley‘s team just cannot stay healthy, and the latest injury inflicts an even tougher blow on a team that’s already lost some guys on defense.

According to the Oregonian, starting cornerback Brandon Hardin has suffered an ambiguous shoulder problem and has been ruled out indefinitely.

“He’s going to have a screw put in the shoulder,’' said Riley.

The news of Hardin’s injury comes just a couple days after it was reported that the Beavers would be losing safety Josh LaGrone to a career-ending knee problem and defensive tackle Kevin Frahm for a few weeks with a meniscus tear.

Receiver Micah Hatfield has a broken thumb, and there are several other Beavers sidelined with injuries, or serving game suspensions for various off-the-field incidents.

But with all those losses, Hardin’s injury might be one of the toughest to swallow. The senior had 15 starts to his name and was a valuable member of OSU’s special teams unit.

Every team deals with offseason problems, be it injuries, suspensions or otherwise, but Oregon State already had their work cut out for them with conference games against Stanford, Oregon, Washington, Arizona*, Arizona State and Utah.

It just keeps getting tougher.

(*note: not buying ‘Zona as a whole yet , but quarterback Nick Foles has some of the best receivers to throw to in the country)
