USC loses TE to injury; Ambles no longer with the team

For USC, Tuesday was a bad news kind of day.

First, Trojans coach Lane Kiffin announced that tight end Junior Pomee, a true freshman from Moreno Valley, California, suffered a broken foot on Sunday and will miss the entire season.

The four-star recruit was a highly-touted tight end who chose the Trojans over Florida, UCLA, Arizona and others.

Additionally, and after a rather tumultuous first year in LA, Kiffin announced that WR Markeith Ambles was no longer with the team. Ambles was declared academically ineligible earlier this month.

USC athletics’ official twitter page subsequently offered this response:

“WR Markeith Ambles withdrew from USC after being declared academically ineligible this year. He is no longer part of the program.

Ambles was a five-star receiver according to Rivals.com and part of the USC 2010 recruiting class.
