More Purdue QB woes as Rob Henry suffers torn ACL

Caleb TerBush, you’d better get ready for your solo Purdue closeup because it’s coming up quick.

In a press release sent out Wednesday afternoon, the Boilermakers announced that quarterback Rob Henry suffered a non-contact ACL tear in his right knee during practice Tuesday. While the release states that “further diagnosis will determine the extent of the injury and how long the Ocala, Fla., native will be sidelined”, it’s believed Henry will miss the entire 2011 season.

“Rob Henry is a huge part of our football program, our heart goes out to him” head coach Danny Hope said in a statement. “He was voted a captain by the team in the spring, and I know he will continue to inspire and push Robert (Marve), Caleb (TerBush), Sean (Robinson) and all of his teammates forward.”

The only problem with pushing Marve is that the Miami (Fla.) transfer reported yesterday that the ACL injury he’s recovering from would likely preclude him from playing until the start of Big Ten play. The Boilermakers open conference play Oct. 8 against Minnesota.

The first four non-conference games, however, will likely then fall squarely on the shoulders of TerBush. In his three years in West Lafayette, the redshirt junior has attempted a total of 10 passes; all of those came in one game during the 2009 season.

Henry, who was voted an offensive co-captain following spring practice this year, started seven of the 11 games he played in last season. Not only did he lead the Boilermakers in passing after replacing an injured Marve, he also led the team in rushing yards and touchdowns.
