Iowa State safety latest to fall to ACL tear

Iowa State’s secondary depth has taken a pretty tough blow as the Cyclones prepare for what is promising to be a challenging season for coach Paul Rhoads.

Multiple media outlets are reporting that backup safety Earl Brooks has torn his ACL in his left knee and will be out for the entire 2011 season. Brooks played in 12 games last year as a valuable backup to Ter’Ran Benton and was projected to play a similar role this season.

The injury will move true freshman Jared Brackens into the No. 2 spot behind Benton.
