Tulsa All-American involved in bizarre embezzlement incident

Tulsa wide receiver and return specialist Damaris Johnson was poised for another outstanding season after being named a second-team AP All-American last year.

Instead, he could be facing legal trouble and disciplinary action from his head coach, Bill Blankenship -- with emphasis being placed on the “could” part of that statement.

The Tulsa World is reporting a very strange story involving Johnson and his girlfriend, Chamon Jones, that, once again, makes you wonder what on Earth are people really thinking most of the time.

According to a police report, Jones, a Macy’s employee, allowed Johnson to use her debit card on at least two reported occasions within the past week to pay for merchandise totaling over $1,500 and $1,200, for which Johnson was only charged an amazing $12.91 and $0.34, respectively.

Jones has been booked into the Tulsa County Jail; Johnson has been brought in for questioning, but released pending further investigation into the matter.

University representatives say they were unaware of the situation, so there has been no comment from Blankenship yet and it’s uncertain what, if any, punishment Johnson would receive.

Johnson, the NCAA’s leader in career all-purpose yards, was the team’s leading receiver last year with 57 receptions for 872 yards and four touchdowns. He was also the team’s second-leading rusher with 560 yards and seven touchdowns, and returned a punt and a kickoff for a touchdown.
