Updated: Connor Wood visits Colorado

Well, as far as the rumor mill is concerned, that didn’t take long.

Just as it was announced mere hours ago that junior quarterback Garrett Gilbert would be the opening-game starter for the Texas Longhorns, another quarterback might be on the way out.

Jason Suchomel -- a great source for all things UT -- of OrangeBloods.com tweets that redshirt freshman Connor Wood is reportedly visiting Colorado today and could end up in the Pac-12 long before Texas.

A source with knowledge of the situation has confirmed to CFT that Wood was on the Boulder campus. Under NCAA rules, a player cannot make an official visit unless they have been released from scholarship.

Wood, a four-star recruit according to Rivals.com who signed with the Longhorns in 2010, was placed behind Gilbert, Case McCoy and true freshman David Ash in the most recent quarterback pecking order. And with 2012 verbal Connor Brewer likely on the way, Texas was bound to be absolutely loaded under center moving forward.
