Status of two Oklahoma recruits finalized

And, unfortunately for the Sooners, the news isn’t good.

Two incoming freshman from Oklahoma’s 2011 recruiting class won’t be joining the team this fall. According to head coach Bob Stoops, defensive tackle Jordan Wade is still trying to improve a test score and wide receiver Trey Metoyer will attend Hargrave Military Academy. Both will look to rejoin the Sooners next year.

Wade and Metoyer were one of four OU players whose eligibility status with the team was uncertain over the past few weeks. Linebacker/defensive end Ronnell Lewis has been dealing with personal issues, and defensive tackle Jordan Phillips was working through NCAA Clearinghouse issues, although he has since been cleared to play.

The Sooners enter 2011 as the No. 1 preseason team according to the Associated Press and are widely expected to win the Big 12 and compete for a BCS national title.
