It may not matter too much since Temple’s opening game is against 1-AA, in-town opponent Villanova, but Owls coach Steve Addazio has levied a one-game suspension on quarterback Chester Stewart and starting cornerback Kee-ayre Griffin (pictured) for violation of unspecified team rules.
“I’m not going to talk about it,” Addazio said Monday. “So don’t ask me any questions about it.”
Yes, sir.
Stewart, who started seven games last season for the Owls, was in a three-way battle with junior Mike Gerardi and sophomore Chris Coyer for the starting job this year. Griffin, on the other hand, started 10 games last season and recorded 51 tackles and an interception.
Stewart was not expected to win the starting job this year, so at least for the opener, it’s likely that Griffin’s presence will be more sorely missed.

Wonder if he traded his stuff for a cool and scary looking owl tat!
Villanova is ranked 14th in the FCS rankings and could give Temple a challenge. Last year Villanova was beating Temple by 2 until Temple’s kicker made a 43-yard field goal with 3 seconds remaining in the game, and in 2009 Villanova beat Temple.
