With so much negativity going on in the world of college football, we try to sprinkle in some feel-good stories to remind us every once in a while that there are still some decent human beings out there.
Such is the case of two Missouri Western football players -- Jack Long and Shane Simpson -- who broke into a car back in August.
Don’t worry -- they did so to rescue a baby trapped inside.
The Associated Press writes that Simpson, who was leaving practice with Long, saw that a woman -- Teresa Gall -- was screaming and trying to get into her vehicle to save her baby, Liam, who was trapped inside.
“We thought she maybe had locked her keys in the car, but then thought that was kind of an extreme thing to do for keys,” said Long.
“I was panicked and horrified,” Gall said. “He was crying and getting sick, and I couldn’t get to him.”
In one swipe, Simpson said he broke one of the car windows and was able to save the baby. Liam was reportedly okay, just a little dehydrated. Gall added that she tried to pay Long and Simpson in return for their deed, but that the two refused to accept. Instead, they invited Gall and her son to the first game of the season.
A remarkable show of character by those two.
