Football fashion sense wasn’t the only thing that took a beating in Maryland’s opener.
In his teleconference conducted less than 24 hours after beating Miami 32-24 in his first game as the Terrapins’ head coach, Randy Edsall confirmed that starting defensive end Isaiah Ross will be forced to undergo surgery for an injury he suffered in the win. Edsall would not specify the exact nature of the injury, although the Washington Post reports that it could be a leg issue of some type.
It’s also unclear when or even if Ross will be able to return. A clearer prognosis should be available after the medical procedure is performed.
Ross played in 21 games the past two seasons; Monday night was his first start at the collegiate level.
In addition to Ross’ injury, backup tight end Dave Stinebaugh will undergo season-ending surgery on, well, something as Edsall declined to address where the sophomore was injured as well.
