Arrest results in dismissal for Badgers D-lineman

Five days after being arrested on two counts of disorderly conduct and battery following his involvement in a fight outside a gym, Wisconsin defensive lineman Jake Irwin has been dismissed from the team.

Head coach Bret Bielema made the announcement today via a statement.

“Jake Irwin had been serving a suspension and was not a part of our fall camp roster,” Bielema said. “Following an incident that occurred late last week, I have decided to dismiss Jake from the Wisconsin football team. We will continue to provide Jake with support as he transitions into his future and wish him the best.”

A three-star in-state athlete, Irwin signed with the Badgers in 2010 and redshirted last season.
