Air Force loses pair of defensive starters for at least two months

Patrick Hennessey, Jake Gdowski, Leondard Mason

As it turns out, a mark in the right-hand side of the W/L column wasn’t the only thing Air Force lost against TCU Saturday.

Head coach Troy Calhoun announced that outside linebacker Patrick Hennessey and nose tackle Ryan Gardner suffered injuries against the Horned Frogs that will keep each off the field for a period of 8-10 weeks.  Hennessey broke his thumb while Gardner suffered an injury to the MCL in his right knee.

Both players are starting members of the Falcons’ defense.

“We’ll work through it,” Calhoun said of the impact will have on his defense.

Counting this season, Hennessey has started 15 games the past three years and will likely be replaced by Jamil Cooks.  Either Cody Miller and Nick DeJulio will replace Gardner, who started all 10 games in which he played in 2010.
