Irish TE Ragone lost to another season-ending injury

During his senior year of high school in 2006, Mike Ragone suffered a season-ending knee injury. In 2008, his second season at Notre Dame, the tight end suffered another season-ending knee injury.

And, yeah, you know what’s coming next.

Irish head coach Brian Kelly announced Tuesday that Ragone has a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of his fifth-year senior season.

Ragone suffered the injury in the loss to Michigan this past Saturday. He will undergo surgery in the near future to repair the latest damage.

“Very disappointed for him,” Kelly said. “He’s been a warrior for us. He’s battled through a lot of injuries, loves to play the game, loves competition, and we’re really going to miss him.

“He’ll still be around our football team, he’ll mentor the younger players.”

Ragone came to South Bend as a four-star prospect out of Cherry Hill, NJ, and was rated by Rivals.com as the No. 3 TE in the country for the Class of 2007.
