When North Carolina opens ACC play against Virginia later Saturday, they’ll do so without the services of their top punt returner/backup cornerbacks, the schools announced today.
In a press release, UNC confirmed that Todd Harrelson has been suspended indefinitely for violating unspecified team and university rules. The school did note, however, that the suspension is not related to the NCAA investigation.
It had been reported late this week that the NCAA was back on the UNC campus doing some followup work in its investigation of the Tar Heels football program.
After playing wide receiver the past two seasons, Harrelson moved to corner for 2011. He’s also averaged 9.5 yards on four punt returns.
