I’ve never heard Duke, Virginia, or Emory referred to by any other names. Their own are prestigious enough I have heard Vandy called the Ivy League of the South, but not the Harvard of the South. Although Emory has a fine law school, I always think of it for its great medical school. But as with any institution, what matters most is what you do after you get the diploma

Well, he gained admittance to the Harvard of the Midwest, a.k.a. the Ohio State University, before failing to make the grade there, so I guess that makes him doubly-distinguished.

In addition to the ones you mention, I’ve heard the “Harvard of the South” tag applied to The University of the South (better known as Sewanee for those college football historians out there). Isn’t it odd that no one asks which school is the “Yale of the South,” or even the “Holy Cross of the South?”

This kid is bad news trust me you don’t want your team associate with him. He couldn’t make the grade at a school his father was a legend at(special treatment), even with tons of school sponsored tutors and had problems with grades at the junior college level. At some point this kid has to take the student-athlete part seriously. I’d put good money on the fact that he leaves school without a degree and even if he stays the next 2-3 years.

By the way which school is the Harvard of the south? My cousin who’s a lawyer says it’s Emory (she’s an alum), my buddy with a PhD say’s it’s Duke (he’s an alum) and my wife’s family say’s it’s Virginia (there from that part of the state). I always thought it was Vandy?

Doesn’t appear we’ll have to worry about it If he can’t meet the academic standard, he won’t get on the field. And if he manages to get on the field, I’ll bet on Saban to explain how he’s gonna behave …

Well, genius, you can enroll in many universities on a provisional basis, but you can’t play football unless you meet a certain academic standard. Guess they don’t teach reading or logic in whatever version of Harvard provided your degree in smart ass.

I’m telling ya, this kid is a turd. You don’t want him, he’s not worth the headache. Alabama has better receivers anyways.
