Texas wide receiver John Harris will miss next weekend’s game at Iowa State due to a foot injury, the university announced last night.
Harris, a redshirt freshman, had just two catches for 13 yards in three games this season, but began the year as a starter before being a backup to Marquise Goodwin last weekend against UCLA. Goodwin returned to Texas’ football team after trying his hand at track and field.
But Harris is one of four — and one of two receivers (the other being Jaxon Shipley)– Longhorns to throw a touchdown pass this season. Harris tossed a 36-yard score to Shipley against Rice. And with Garrett Gilbert out for the rest of the season to recover from shoulder surgery, it was thought that Harris would be UT’s reserve quarterback behind Case McCoy and David Ash.
It’s not known at this point how long Harris will be sidelined.
The bigger thing that will be missed is his blocking. Hope the kid gets well soon, because he’s excellent at blocking out the corner, particularly for a freshman.
Obligatory: this is what UT gets for being so arrogant and greedy.
sans……. why not just say without?
News flash from burnedorangehorn. Texas is arrogant and greedy. WOW!
To bad Harris will be out. Not long I hope. It’s all hands on deck with Harsin’s offense. Really fun to watch this season. A lot of people are going to be surprised if everyone can stay healthy by the end of this season.
Sorry, didn’t mean to offend. Spellcheck on this thing is a bit&#. I was just astounded by your arrogant and greedy comment burntorangehorn.
Becauase sans sounds so much cooler than without
This is what Texas gets for being so greedy and arrogant. /sarcasm
@burntorangehorn – even with my great disdain for UT antics and methods, I would never wish for, or rub in a player injury. The two don’t have anything to do with each other.
Texas blows complete donkey d***. Your greed is ruining the Big 12 and college football for everyone. Your program has zero respect for anyone else and I just want you to know the feeling is mutual.
