Through three games this year, former No. 1 recruit and Kansas State running back Bryce Brown has just three carries for 16 yards, no touchdowns, but one fumble -- all of which came in K-State’s season-opening win against Eastern Kentucky.
Since then, Brown hasn’t done much of anything, and now doubts are beginning to surface as to whether the Tennessee transfer will be in Manhattan for much longer. The Manhattan Murcury reports that a university spokesperson couldn’t confirm or deny that Brown was even part of the team.
The problems Brown is having, though, may not be as simple as a lack of playing time.
“Bryce is going through some difficult times right now and we’ll try to help him all we can,” said head coach Bill Snyder on Wednesday.
As of Tuesday, Snyder maintained that sophomore John Hubert and JUCO transfer Angelo Pease would be the top two running backs for the Wildcats. Brown has been battling for third on the depth chart since preseason camp after missing some significant “voluntary workout” time during the summer -- which, of course, is hardly voluntary.
