Three days after being hospitalized for the second time in two weeks for seizures, Jerry Kill was back at work and coaching his Minnesota Golden Gophers during practice Wednesday.
The head coach said after the practice session that he fully intends to be on the sidelines this weekend as his 1-3 squad takes on Michigan in Ann Arbor Saturday. Kill suffered a seizure on the sidelines late in a loss to New Mexico State the second week of the season, but has coached the past two games.
Kill sounded both irritated at having to answer questions about his medical condition and anxious to get to work in preparing for the Wolverines.
“I have a complicated issue. It’s not something I’m going to die from, but it’s complicated right now,” Kill said. “I got out of the hospital [Wednesday] -- I got out at 11 [a.m.], I was back here at 1 [p.m.] for a coaches’ meeting. So it isn’t like I’m going home and resting.”
His own health isn’t the only complication Kill’s facing. Starting quarterback MarQueis Gray is suffering from a foot/toe injury, and his status for this weekend’s game will be determined on Thursday.
