Georgia loses another to transfer

Rodrick Rumble, Derek Owens

There’s been some speculation over the past week about the future of the Georgia cornerback Derek Owens. The sophomore had said earlier this week that he planned on transferring, but head coach Mark Richt had yet to say much of anything on the matter.

Until now.

After Wednesday’s practice, Richt confirmed that Owens has asked to be released from his scholarship to pursue other playing opportunities.

Owens played on special teams through the first three games this season, but did not travel to Ole Miss this past weekend. The sophomore was buried on the depth chart and saw limited action.

The departure marks the 14th player to leave Georgia since the end of last season, mostly due to transfer. Just last week, safety Jakar Hamilton announced he would be leaving the program as well.

When the offensive and defensive starters are out at the 50 yard line for the coin toss, their sideline will be empty, except for the corches and kool-aid kids.

Pretty safe bet that Richt will be transferring out at the end of the year too.

After getting spanked by ‘little ole Boise State’, they’re all jumping ship to go play on the blue!

At least they had the b*#lls to play Boise State.

SEC are such overrated posers. (But, they are good to use when you can’t fall asleep. Just watch any of their teams when they have the ball on offense — zzzzzzzzz).

Agreed Olskool…they did have the balls indeed. SEC teams are rather boring on offense aren’t they…5 teams in the SEC are powerhouses. The rest are mediocre at best.

    LAST 5 BCS CHAMPS:

    2006 – Florida Gators (SEC)
    2007 – LSU Tigers (SEC)
    2008 – Florida Gators (SEC)
    2009 – Alabama (SEC)
    2010 – Auburn (SEC)

What is the definition of “Overrated Poser?” Does anyone need the “OLSKOOL” definition on “Uneducated, Jealous Moron?

Olskool, tell us, what are the offensive stats for Boise in those BCSCGames listed above? Oh, that’s right. Never mind. Maaaaaybe one day.

    Mark Richt,
Go west, young man. I think I hear the Lobos at New Mexico calling; though if UCLA had a licka sense, they’d be calling, too.
Georgia’s expectations will always be unrealistically, too high.
Go rebuild a smaller program (I guess that rules out UCLA), and rebuild your rep and your fans’ appreciation, along with it.
But please stay away from NC State. The last thing we need at Carolina, is another Lou Holtz, at State!

    Tighten-up, Loosers.

I wish we did play Kelly Moore on your cheating blue field, every year. Sorry that us in the sec have such a hard conference schedule during the year, that we don’t play, but I hope we meet in a bowl game. I was upset when I heard uga was playing kelly Moore. Not a good season for them. At the end of the day every team wants to be in the conference they can’t be in. Other than the Cali schools you guys have never done sh$t up until now. Don’t forget your not a bcs conference for a reason jackleg.
