Off to a surprising unbeaten start and a Top 15 ranking a little over a month into the season, Georgia Tech could find itself a little shorthanded defensively for their game Saturday against Maryland.
Starting linebackers Jeremiah Attaochu and Daniel Drummond missed practice Monday due to injuries and are questionable for this weekend’s ACC match-up. The exact nature of the injuries are not known, other than the vague “lower leg” label placed on them.
Speaking specifically of Attaochu’s injury, head coach Paul Johnson decided to add a little humor to the situation. At least we think he was joking, as it’s not really out of the realm of possibility that the old-school coach could go Old Yeller on an injured player and put him down.
“I don’t know if he’ll play, but he’s O.K.,” Johnson said of Attaochu according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We’re not going to have to shoot him or anything.”
The sophomore Attaochu is currently tied for second in the ACC in sacks with four and has started each of the Yellow Jackets’ five games this season. Drummond has started four games and is fourth on the team in tackles.
Malcolm Munroe would likely replace Attaochu, while either B.J. Machen or Quayshawn Nealy would replace Drummond.
