Ohio State WR latest to succumb to season-ending ACL injury

Ohio State is already off to a tough start in Big Ten play after losing to Michigan State 10-7 last weekend; a trip to Lincoln Nebraska this Saturday doesn’t sound any easier. With the Buckeyes’ offense struggling, losing any playmakers to injury could be devastating.

Unfortunately for tOSU, that’s the case with second-leading receiver Verlon Reed.

Coach Luke Fickell said Reed tore the ACL in his right knee, and damaged other ligaments as well, during the loss to Michigan State. He is officially done for the year.

Reed has nine catches for 132 yards. The Buckeyes are losing offensive players by the day, it seems, as Ohio State AD Gene Smith announced yesterday that three athletes -- running back Boom Herron, receiver DeVier Posey and lineman Marcus Hall -- would be suspended for the game against Nebraska for receiving impermissible benefits in the form of excessive wages from a summer job.

Herron and Posey were already suspended the first five games of the season for accepting impermissible benefits.
