While C.J. Mosley‘s presence on the field wasn’t necessary in Alabama’s overpowering win over Florida this past Saturday, the Tide is unarguably a better defense with the linebacker in uniform and he will be needed the further the season heads down the road.
How far down the road he is to availability, however, remains to be seen.
Mosley missed the victory over the Gators with an elbow injury suffered the week before in a win against SEC West rival Arkansas. It appears as though Mosley will attempt to practice this week, although just how much remains unclear. The same can also be said for his availability for the Vanderbilt game in four days.
“C.J. Mosley will do some things on the practice field this week,” head coach Nick Saban said Monday. “I don’t know where he’ll be by the end of the week.”
If Mosley is unable to go, Nico Johnson would likely get the start for the second straight week. Saban said Johnson “did a really good job” in replacing Mosley.
